Guest speakers from One Girl Can, a girls' education organization, visited UHill Secondary on February 6th at lunch to speak about their organization and the impact of girls' education on empowering women and breaking the cycle of poverty. We learned about the importance of girls' education and ways through which we could help students in Africa continue their education through high school and post-secondary.

Julia Boyle, One Girl Can’s Director of Development, has spent 5 years living in Uganda, Ghana, Liberia, Botswana, and Mali. She has a true passion in empowering women and girls. With a Masters in International Development and Management, she believes that international projects are most successful when there is a deep understanding of the local environment and culture.
Nicola Carroll, One Girl Can’s Marketing & Social Media Specialist, believes educating women is the most effective investment the world can make to end poverty, inequality, and environmental degradation. Nicola holds two Bachelor's degrees with a specialty in ethics, social entrepreneurship, and corporate social responsibility.
